A little bit about my internet marketing experience. I'm an avid reader when it comes to wealth generation. I've also purchased a lot of courses and software.
I started into internet marketing in 2005 after reading a book by Robert G. Allen, Multiple Streams of Income. I was trying to decide what direction to begin generating income. I thought about real estate, the stock market, and a couple of other ideas. The market for real estate was horrible at the time and I didn't have a ton of capital. I was really inspired by the info Robert Allen put in the book about online and email marketing. It takes little cash to start up and if you're being smart, much of it can be automated, and it fell in line with several other key ideas I had in mind at the time.
Fast forward, I've read a lot of internet marketing books, purchased a lot of courses, spent a lot of money, and tried a lot of ideas. Not everything out there is top notch and going to help start generating income immediately, but the important thing that I've learned is to identify the key principles and values from each marketer. As I mentioned, I've purchased many courses and I had to learn fairly early on that if I wanted to begin to make money online that I had to make smart course purchasing decisions. At the time, I wanted to buy everything that came out.
So, to name some things I've tried: I've tried AdSense, I've tried advertising products from ClickBank, I've tried advertising products from Commission Junction. I've tried AdWords on a large scale, I have several sites that I own and had owned with different ideas. I tried creating a product for ClickBank (EZCogTemplates) several years ago and made 3 sales. Woohoo! I've purchased KeywordElite, SEOElite, AffiliateElite (all three from Brad Callen, local affiliate marketer) and AdsenseWealthEmpire to name a few pieces of software. With each of these, I've had success, but not enough to be noteworthy. I should note that I haven't written any of them off. Recently, I purchased a membership to CBWealthFormula (with Saj P and Anik Singal) and some things clicked for me. I purchased a book called Web Copy That Sells (Maria Veloso) and some major things clicked for me. I also watched the free videos when AffiliateDotCom (Mike Filsaime and Chris Farrell) launched and some more things clicked for me. So, in my small successes and failings forward, I've been continuing to put key ideas together.
Then, the other day, I had a big idea. Well, I always have big ideas for products or ways to generate income online. The problem I continue running into is not having enough time or resources to implement them all. And I'm sure other people out there have a hard time getting all their ideas to market (or thought through enough to be scrapped before market) because they don't have enough time and resources. So, my big idea. Keeping in mind internet marketing and being nimble, what better way than to train, equip, and network with freelancers to help those affiliates who can't hire a huge staff of employees?
That's when I started a new meetup group, Affiliate Freelancers Indianapolis. I'm hoping that our group can be a safe place to share white-hat/ethical objective ideas that work and share some of our "failing forward" experiences so that we can push affiliate marketing forward in Indy. Freelancers get work, affiliates get help rolling out ideas. And everyone can learn about affiliate marketing as they are involved in launches or creating sites and content.
So, that's a little about my affiliate marketing experience and vision for our meetup group. I think I have a lot of good content to share from my experiences. And I'm looking for people who would be willing to share experiences related to affiliate marketing at the meetup. Of course, I'm hoping that everyone can share experiences with each other and help raise the affiliate marketing IQ in Indy.
